RELATIONSHIPS

Radiation - Superimposition
of Radiation Structures

As pointed out earlier, the three kinds of radiation structure are interdependent. Unless the unit forms are just the structural lines themselves made visible, each kind of radiation structure generally requires another to produce fine structural subdivisions for the accommodation of unit forms.

Superimposition in this way is just a practical necessity. Which kind of radiation structure will dominate during this superimposition depends on the shape and positioning of the unit forms.

Sometimes one radiation structure is superimposed upon another of the same type or a different type with a different purpose. The result is a complex composition, often producing interesting moiré patterns.
