Toners

Toners are precipitated dyestuffs, or lakes, of a very concentrated nature, containing little inert carrier. They must be tested carefully for their tendency to bleed. [Kay, Reed. The Painter's Guide to Studio Methods and Materials. Englewood Cliffs, NJ: Prentice-Hall, Inc., 1983.]
