Naiads

The nymphs of running water, springs, and streams, were daughters of Zeus or Oceanos, who were exceptionally beautiful and were often the object of desire on the part of both mortals and gods. But they rejected this love and punished those who threatened them by driving them insane. They were nevertheless all very generous and kind, and often cured the sick by means of certain curative waters. [p. 51]
