Chimaera

Daughter of Typhoeus and Echidna, she was a monster possessing three heads, one of a lion, one of a goat, and the third of a terrifying serpent. Her front part consisted of a lion, the back that of a dragon, while in the center was the goat that emitted fire. Amisodaur, king of Caria, had raised her, and she caused frightful damage as well as devouring any traveler or animal that came her way. Bellerophon slew her from the back of the winged steed Pegasus by thrusting into her mouth a staff that had lead at its extremity. The lead melted due to the action of the flames being expelled by Chimaera and brought about her death. [p. 84]
